In this session we welcomed Deborah Moss, MD, MPH, FAAP, Jack Rozel, MD, MSL, DFAPA, and Vaishali Dixit Schuchert, MD, FACS, for their Grand Rounds talk titled, “Doctors, Guns, & Money: Physicians and Fixing the Problem of Firearm Injuries”. According to the American College of Physicians (ACP), “more Americans lose their lives to firearm injury than to motor vehicle crashes,” and as such, “the ACP sees gun injury as a public health issue”. Drs. Moss, Rozel and Schuchert opened the discussion by providing some context for the ever-present threat of firearm violence in our country and help us, as internal medicine physicians, develop best practices for counseling our patients on gun safety. Our speakers then concluded with a question-and-answer session.
