Dr. E. Dale Abel, MD, PhD, was recently appointed Chair of the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, after a remarkable tenure as Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa. Dr. Abel’s research has been continually funded by the NIH since 1995, producing groundbreaking insights in the fields of diabetes and heart failure. By characterizing the mechanisms of aberrant glucose metabolism, Dr. Abel’s laboratory has tied mitochondrial dysfunction with cardiovascular complications. As a leading figure in biomedical research, mentorship, and health systems leadership, we were excited to host Dr. Abel. Please join us for his talk titled, “(Glucose) Metabolism a Common Soil Linking Diabetes Mellitus, Heart Failure, and Cancer?”
